Heavy rain pounded several parts of the state on Sunday.

Uttara Kannada district has been receiving heavy rain for the past three days, which continued on Sunday also. It rained heavily in Bhatkal, Honnavar, Kumta, Ankola and Karwar while there was only a drizzle in Haliyal, Mundgod and Sirsi. There was cloudy weather in Dandeli.

The district recorded a rainfall of 775.40 mm till 8 am on Sunday. Bhatkal has received the highest rainfall of 242 mm followed by Kumta 152.2 mm and Honnavar 143 mm.

Rain continued to lash Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. Roads were waterlogged affecting movement of vehicles in Mangaluru.

The equipment brought in for the construction of a bridge across Swarna river was washed away with the river swelling. The rain also caused massive landslide at Ottinene. Vehicles were stranded for hours together on NH-66.

Trees and electric poles were uprooted at various places across both the districts.

Udupi, Manipal, Karkala, Moodubelle, Brahmavar, Shirva, Kaup, Kota, Kumbhashi, Padukone, Kollur, Byndoor, Navunda, Maravanthe, Gangolli, Nada, Hemmady, Hosangadi, Thekkatte, Kundapur, Koteshwar and Siddapur in Udupi districts received

Kodagu district experienced drizzle throughout the day. Madikeri, Bhagamandala, Talacauvery, Napoklu received moderate rainfall for an hour while Virajpete, Gonikoppa, Srimangala, Ponnampete and Kutta received rain in the evening. Chikkamagaluru district too experienced drizzle.

Shivamogga district received good rains for the whole day. There were reports of copious rain in Shivamogga city, Shikaripur, Sagar, Hosanagar, Thirthahalli, Sorab and Ripponpet.

Rain accompanied by thunder and lightning lashed Kalaburagi district intermittently. There were light showers in Aland and Afzalpur taluks.
