In a move aimed at improving the well-being of police personnel, Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) has issued a circular directing all units to grant leave to officers and staff on their birthdays and wedding anniversaries, if they seek it.
The circular underlines the importance of allowing personnel time off on significant personal milestones, stating that “taking leave on these special days helps officers and personnel to recharge emotionally, spend quality time with family and maintain a balance between duty and personal life.”
According to the DGP, the measure is expected to have a positive impact on morale and work efficiency within the force. “This boosts morale. Stress is reduced and overall job satisfaction increases productivity,” the circular said.
Terming the decision a humanitarian step, the circular said such initiatives were essential to acknowledge the sacrifices made by police personnel in the line of duty. “This humanitarian act not only recognizes their sacrifices but also builds loyalty and strengthens the commitment of the police force, contributing to better discipline and performance in the service,” it added.
