A resident of Madival Nagar in Hubballi, despite his mother’s death in the wee hours of Tuesday, cast his vote in the Lok Sabha election and performed her final rites later.

Vimala Nayak (89) passed away in the morning. Her death, however, did not deter son C N Nayak from exercising his franchise with wife Indira Nayak at the Polling Station 110 at Bhavani Nagar. “As a son of India, this is also my duty,” he said with a chocked voice. After casting the vote, Nayak performed the final rites of his mother. Nayak is a retired PWD engineer.
