MP C S Puttaraju directed  the officials of the Water Resources Department to take steps to level the agricultural lands that have been washed away due to flood, following the breach of Keragodu lake.

Puttaraju visited the rain affected areas in Maddur on Friday and inspected the rice mill godown and other shops which had been inundated as the water through the Kolli canal overflowed, on Thursday.

Speaking to media persons, Puttaraju said MLA D C Thammanna and deputy commissioner have already inspected the areas and have assessed the loss. The district administration should take measures to release the compensation at the earliest, he added.

Puttaraju said he has already met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has discussed the issues related to farmer suicides in the district and also other problems.

He also said that he has sought more compensation to tackle drought situation in the district. A report would be submitted soon on the rain damages to the Centre, he said.
