The work on the construction of a KSRTC bus shelter in Mudigere will commence by the end of this month, said KSRTC Chief Engineer Jagadish Chandra.

Speaking to mediapersons after inspecting,  he said that the present bus shelter is in a deplorable condition. The number of people who use this bus shelter has increased over the years. It would be better to construct a new bus shelter than repair the existing one, he said.

It was decided to construct the new bus shelter in the same place where the old shelter exists. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 80 lakh.

The new bus shelter will be designed in such a way that it will not withstand the heavy rains that lashes the region. The construction may be completed by the end of next year, he said.

There is no truth in report that the bus shelter will be shifted to Gaganamakki is far from truth. With the rise in the price of land, it will be impossible to purchase a piece of land to construct bus shelter.

Hence, it was decided to construct the bus shelter in the same place where the old bus shelter exists, he said.

Temporary arrangements will be made for the buses at Hoisala grounds, or the land adjacent to the present bus shelter, when the work on the bus shelter will commences.

Executive Engineer Manjunath, Divisional Engineer Srinivas, Traffic Inspector B T Kumar and others were present at the occasion.
