Mysuru: A team of personnel of the forest department have succeeded in rescuing an 8 to 9 year old male tiger at Moleyur wildlife range of Bandipur Tiger Reserve on Saturday late night. Conservator of Forest Mysuru Circle S Ravishankar confirmed this.
This tiger was the one which had killed farmer Chowda Naika (35) at Hale Heggudilu village on Friday morning. This tiger is captured at a distance of 2km from the spot where the farmer was killed. They have confirmed that it was the same tiger hich had killed the farmer, with its movement from its pug marks from the place of incident, to the place where it has been rescued now.
They had found the hair of a tiger on the body of a farmer. Now they have collected the hair of the animal and sending it for DNA analysis for scientific confirmation that it was the same tiger which killed the farmer on Friday morning, officials said.
Wildlife veterinarian Dr Ramesh darted it. The tiger is being shifted to Chamundi rescue centre at Koorgalli in Mysuru around 2am. The tiger had suffered injury on its neck due to snare and hence it is suspected to have attacked the farmer.
Two other farmers were killed by tigers on October 31 and October 26. Combing operations were intensified,to trace and rescue the tigers of all three incidents, and a cub of a tiger which attacked a farmer on October 16. They have already rescued this tiger which attacked farmer, and its two cubs earlier. They have even rescued two cubs of tiger which killed a farmer on October 26.
