Mysuru: Air of Dasara has enveloped Mysuru. People are thronging in large numbers to flower show, food mela besides enjoying events like poets' meet, women's dasara, children's dasara during the day. During the night they are enjoying the concerts infront of Illuminated Mysuru Palace and at Yuva Dasara in Uttanahalli near Mysuru ring road.
Poets meet
On the third day of Dasara, during second day of Dasara poets meet- 'Prachura Kavighoshti'-became a platform for 32 poets including few specially abled people and a transgender to read out their poems. They mainly voiced out messages of love, peace, harmony and concerns for conservation of environment. Some upheld their pride for Kannada language and land. President of Karnataka Union of Working Journalists Union Shivananda Tagadur inspired poets by reading out his poem 'Nettharu' which he had written after visiting Gaaza border along with a team of Journalists, and another poem on International Booker Prize winner Banu Mushtaq.
A transgender and make-up artist Rihana Irfan, visually challenged Likith, voiced out the challenges of their life in their poems. Another specially abled H Hemanth voiced out a poem on human bondings. Madhukaaragi, a hearing impaired voiced out her feelings for 'Chuluva Kannada naadu'. Second year degree student from a woman's institute voiced her feelings for her mother. Writer Sukanya Maruthi presided over the session.
Five-day 'Panchakaavyadouthana' poets meet is being held at B M Sri auditorium of Kannada Adhyanana Samsthe of University of Mysore at Manasagangotri. Kavighoshti sub committee President and director of Kuvempu Kannada Adhyana Samsthe, Prof N K Lolakshi and others were present.
Children's Dasara
The two day Children's Dasara which concluded on Wednesday, became a platform for 772 from 34 schools mainly government schools to showcase their talents during cultural programme event at Kalamandira on both days; and at Kalathon procession held from Mysuru Palace to Kalamandira on Tuesday. Children from 24 schools performed cultural programmes from Bharathanatya to folk cultural art forms including Kamsaale, Pooja Kunitha, Kolaata to Myme others at Kalamandira. Specially abled children, children from girijana Ashrama school of Nagapura also performed. On Wednesday, traditional dance by 18 students from Children's village of Bylkuppe of Periyapatna taluk, cultural programme by 26 children of Mahouts of Dasara Elephants were a special attraction. They even enjoyed Humor and magic show by Kadaba Srinivas. DDPI S T Javaregowda and others were present.
Women's Dasara
During the second day of Women's day besides delivering inspirational talk on women's empowermentguarantee schemes implementation committee vice president Pushpa Amarnath walked on ramp to launch a fashion show. Girls from several colleges including Maharani's college had an opportunity to walk on ramp at fashion show with sarees worn in various forms typical to different cultures and regions besides depicting innovative creative ways of wearing sarees. Pulling out time from routine, women even participated in folk dance contest, to competitions of grinding ragi in hand in traditional stone grinder in desi style and even played lagori and other games. Besides the awareness event on cyber crime, they even sat back and enjoyed Tibetan dance from Dolma and team, carnatic classical music from K R Rukmini and team and even bagged Ilkal sarees from Sudha from North Karnataka at expo of women entrepreneurs.
