Mysuru Dasara 2025 is set to be an unforgettable celebration, full of vibrant traditions and thrilling experiences. From the majestic elephants leading the iconic Jumboo Savari to jaw-dropping art showcases, mouth-watering food, and an electrifying air show, there's something for everyone. Plus, with film screenings and a stunning flower show, this year’s Dasara is the perfect blend of culture, fun, and sheer excitement you won't want to miss!

While the key festivities begin from September 22 and continue till October 2, some of the celebratory events have already commenced to delight visitors.

Elephants steal the spotlight

The key event that draws people to Mysuru during this festival is none other than the grand procession of Dasara elephants. The world famous Jumboo Savari is held on Vijayadashmi, which falls on October 2 this year. This historic and annual tradition is carried out against the backdrop of the majestically illuminated Mysore Palace.

As we know, Mysuru Dasara is a cultural extravaganza, it sees a line-up of several events celebrating art, sculpture, music, and more. There are poetry sessions, starting with ‘Pancha Kavyadouthana’ at B M Sri Auditorium of Kuvempu Kannada Adhyayana Samsthe of UoM, between September 23 to 27.

A Dasara Art workshop will commence on September 22 and National Art expo will begin on September 26; Kala Jathre will be held on September 28 at CAVA (Chamrajendra Government College of Visual Arts (CAVA) campus. Rangoli contest is scheduled on the Mysuru Palace premises and later at J K Grounds on September 23. The event will further witness a leather puppetry showcase at the CAVA premises on September 22. Also, one can attend a sculpture camp.

Food festival

Every festival is incomplete with food, don't you agree? Mysuru Dasara has its own Food Mela. The food festival will be held for 14 days, concluding on October 5 and offering traditional delicacies at Maharaja’s College Grounds. Over 100 food stalls are expected to to lift up the vibe. One of the must-try dishes here is the 'Bamboo Biryani.'

Be a foodie or a film enthusiast, the Mysuru Dasara celebrations have something for every visitor. The film screening event pulled up the curtains in an opening ceremony on September 13 and the film screening will be held at Inox Theatre, Mall of Mysuru till September 20. Some of the films you can look for include 'Mahavatar Narasimha', 'Suli', and 'Choo Mantar' among others.

Air and drone show

The Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT), known as the "Ambassadors of the Indian Air Force," will offer a breathtaking view with an incredible air show on September 27, 2025, at the Torchlight Parade Ground in Bannimantapa. Established in 1996, SKAT is famous for its thrilling aerobatic stunts and precision flying.

Flower show

While people in Bengaluru enjoy the Lalbagh Flower Show, Mysuru has its own special one. For the first time, as part of Dasara celebrations, a beautiful flower show will reportedly be held at the Lingambudhi Botanical Garden from September 22 to October 2. It’s a must-see for visitors, offering stunning floral displays and adding to the excitement of the festival.
