The Mayor and Deputy Mayor's election for Mysuru will be held on January 24, said, Mysuru Regional Commissioner MV Jayanti.
The Regional Commissioner on Monday announced the schedule for MCC mayoral elections.
As per the special gazette notification, issued by the Urban Development Secretariat on January 1, the Mayor's post is reserved for Scheduled Caste (woman) and the Deputy Mayor's post for Scheduled Tribe (woman).
The election is necessitated as M J Ravi Kumar of JD(S) and Rathna Lakshman of BJP, who were elected as Mayor and Deputy Mayor on December 7, 2016, completed their one-year tenure.
The Regional Commissioner will conduct the election on January 24.
