A check on criminal activities and detection of crime in the city, will be a bit easier for the police. The city police have procured a hi-tech vehicle 'Mobile Commando Centre', which has several features to have tabs on anti-social activities.

The vehicle, developed in Punjab, is stationed on the City Armed Reserve (CAR) grounds. The vehicle works similar to a police control room and can be used to control the mob, and on special occasions such as Dasara festival and elections. As many as 18 cameras – six inside the vehicle and 12 outside – help to capture videos and images. Each camera can capture images and videos from a kilometer distance.

The unit will be used during emergencies, said an official. The unit is also fixed with a bomb detector, he said.
