Nadoja conferred on Thimmakka

The ‘Nadoja’ awards were also conferred on Dr Shikaripur Ranganath Rao, and Dr D N Shankar Bhat in absentia.

The convocation organised at ‘Navaranga’ at the varsity premises, began with a traditional procession, in which litterateur Chandrashekhar Kambar, the varsity Syndicate members, heads of various departments, and other dignitaries participated. The varsity Vice-Chancellor A Murigeppa declared the convocation open.

At the convocation, DLitt degrees were awarded to 10 persons, while PhD degrees were awarded to 70 persons.

Registrar Manjunath Bevinakatti  said that the varsity had submitted a proposal to the State Government for implementing a scheme for error-free learning of Kannada. A scheme on speech and technology was also being designed. Workshops on handicrafts would also be organised by the varsity, he added.
