Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday said that people of Nanjangud Assembly constituency have rejected BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa as the next chief minister.
Addressing a gathering at a programme organised to thank voters for electing Congress party candidate Kalale N Keshavamurthy in the recently held bypoll in the constituency, the Chief Minister said that Yeddyurappa had claimed that if the BJP candidate wins, he would be the next chief minister during the election campaign.
“The people of the constituency have however, made it clear that they don’t want a BJP government under Yeddyurappa as Chief Minister. Yeddyurappa defamed the people of the constituency by claiming that the voters have taken money from the Congress party to cast their votes,” he said.
Siddaramaiah said PWD Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa’s son Sunil Bose was interested in contesting the bypoll but he supported Keshavamurthy. He played a major role in Keshavamurthy’s victory, Siddaramaiah said.
A host of leaders from the Congress party, including, Minister H Anjaneya were also present.
