Fate was rather cruel for Pushpalata of Hyderabad who had just stepped in to her family life.

The 28-year-old girl employed in a private company in Hyderabad was recently married and she was on a trip to Pune which was sponsored by her company, according to the police. However, she lost her life in the tragic derailment of the Secunderabad-Mumbai Duronto Express near here in the wee hours of Saturday.

The relatives of Pushpalata immediately after learning about the accident had rushed to Kalaburagi only to receive her mortal remains.

The 25-year-old Abdul Ashraff who was proceeding to Mumbai for a training in the Indian Navy has become incapacitated for life as he has lost his right leg.

Ashraff, admitted at the district general hospital in Kalaburagi, said: “I was going to Mumbai from Hyderabad and I woke up to a huge sound. I was sleeping in the lower berth and I got scared. I did not know what happened further.’’

Ramakrishna Reddy (45), also from Hyderabad, lost one-third of his left foot in the accident, according to hospital sources.
