The Union Home Ministry has ordered a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the low-intensity explosion at the district court complex in the city that occurred on August 1.

According to sources, the ministry has sent an order to the city police to hand over the case to the NIA.

The case will be handed over after the order copy is received by the police.
The low-intensity explosion was said to be similar to the recent ones on the court premises at Kollam in Kerala and Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh.

According to the NIA, which had collected samples from the spot, the crude bomb that exploded on the court complex is normally used by terrorists to kill people.
