The presence of Nipah Virus (NiV) infection in Shivamogga district has been ruled out.

Mithun (20), a resident of Shiravanthe village was hospitalised following fever. He works in Kasaragod in Kerala. He returned to his village after he started suffering from the fever.

It was suspected that he could be infected with NiV.

The Sagar taluk hospital staff sent his blood samples to National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune.

The report from the NIV stated that he tested negative for the deadly virus
