Higher Education Minister R V Deshpande on Monday told the Legislative Assembly that the government will increase fee for engineering and medical courses.

Replying to C T Ravi (BJP), the minister said the Venkataramaiah Committee has submitted three reports to the government on fee structure. But, so far the government has not taken any decision. There was some delay in commencing the CET process because the Medical Council of India had to approve intake in certain medical colleges. Otherwise, there is no confusion in the counselling process, he said.

Replying to Y S V Datta (JD-S), Deshpande said the government can’t allow carryover for more subjects than that allowed by courts, for the first year diploma students. He said the demand of agitating students to allow carryover in many subjects can’t be fulfilled as the courts have ruled that such practice should not be allowed.
