Following the photo of a police personnel holding a liquor bottle inside the police station going viral, DK SP C H Sudhir Kumar Reddy has clarified that no one consumed liquor at the Belthangady police station.
He said that according to a preliminary enquiry, the said photo was taken on October 11, 2017. The liquor bottle was brought to the station by constable Nicholas on his birthday on October 11 while he was on his way to his quarters, Reddy said.
As he happened to keep them on the table where another constable was sitting, someone has taken a photo and circulated it in social media, he said. Later, Nicholas took the liquor bottle home. However, another constable Danny, sourced the photo and got it posted along with some other pictures to insult/ defame some innocent people.
The SP said that bringing a liquor bottle to the station as well as trying to defame others are acts of indiscipline. Disciplinary action has been initiated against both and a detailed enquiry is in progress, he said.
