Speaking to reporters in Bangalore, Eshwarappa said the State government will ensure that students studying for examinations are not put to hardship.
He would discuss with the Chief Minister, if required, to go for power purchase from other states to meet the demand in the State.
Gundia project
An expert team will visit Gundia in the wake of some controversies over continuing with work on hydel power plant. The Karnataka Power Corporation had proposed to set up 2x200 MW in the region which comes under the Western Ghats range.
He wondered at the stand taken by Union Minister of State for Environment and Forests Jairam Ramesh that the Centre would not provide environmental clearance for the project.
“Jairam Ramesh as Union Power Minister was very enthusiastic about the project and had even accorded provisional clearance,” he said.
The State government will explain in details to the visiting team the technicalities of the project. The Government is also working on a blueprint to reduce the loss of forest land to a maximum of 50 hectares, the minister added.
