Minister of State for Primary and Secondary Education Kimmane Ratnakar told the Legislative Council on Monday that an internal inquiry had been ordered into the Teachers’ Eligibility Test paper leak incident.

Responding to BJP’s Y A Narayanaswamy, Ratnakar said that prima facie it appeared that there was no involvement of the Education department officials in the paper leak. He categorically stated that the paper leak does not warrant a re-examination for 3.77 lakh aspirants, for now.

“We do not want to subject the aspirants to any hardships as of now. Our opinion is that the paper leak may not have impacted the entire examination. We will probe and later take a decision,” he said.

According to Ratnakar, the paper leak may have occurred from the treasury in Gulbarga, where the question papers were stored. He said that an envelope containing a batch of question papers was missing from the treasury in Gulbarga and found in Bangalore by the police.
