The State government gave a green signal for the Namma Metro Phase II, which is estimated to cost Rs 26,405 crore and add 72.09 kms of new lines to the Metro transit system.
“The State’s share for Phase II is expected to be Rs 8,969 crore,” he said.
Other proposals include: Study regarding the set up of a commuter rail system in Kengeri-Ramanagar, Byappanahalli-Hosur, Yesvanthpur-Tumkur and Yelahanka -Doddaballapur routes; a feasibility report to be prepared for the construction of truck terminals at select towns, including Hubli, Bijapur, Hassan, Chikmagalur, Tumkur and Ramanagara; automated driving test tracks in Mangalore, Belgaum and Hospet; besides, a State urban transport fund with an initial corpus of Rs 100 crore has been created.
A comprehensive report of transport and traffic has been finalised, with respect of six municipal corporations and other eight cities along with surrounding areas of the Bengaluru International Airport
