The main roads in Bagepalli witnessed chaos on Monday as a majority of the candidates took huge procession to submit their nomination for the Assembly polls.

All the aspirants -cutting across party lines -  hit the roads almost at the same time keeping their date with the ‘auspicious muhurtham’ that the astrologers had fixed for them.

The roads in the town were virtually chock-a-block with workers of various political parties compelling police to enforce crowd control measures. BJP workers assembled at HN Circle and took out a procession till Chitravati Circle with the party candidate M Narayanaswamy.

Congress candidate N Sampangi too did not lag behind in show of strength.
CPM candidate G V Srirama Reddy arrived at the office of the election officer with large number of his party workers and submitted his nomination.

Subbireddy of Chelur, Venkatashivappa of Peddatunkepalli, V Narasimhamurthy of Patravaripalli, Shivashankar of Yelahanka in Bangalore, Satyanarayana Reddy of Penamale and Keshava Reddy of Makireddypalli village submitted their nomination papers as Independent candidates.

Traffic on the Bagepalli roads went haywire as supporters of various political parties went in procession in succession. Police and the jawans of Central Reserve Police Force had a tough time in controlling  the swelling crowd.

The nominations were submitted to election officer Nagaraja Setty.

Police prevented the party workers from reaching the office of the election officer. Circle Inspector of Police Srinivasmurthy said according to the directions of the Election Commission, only five people will be allowed with each candidateMotorists and pedestrians had to face difficulty in reaching out to their destination. Vehicles took a detour to avoid main roads which were teeming with political workers.
