The petitioner, Hiranappa a resident of Sagara in Shimoga, had challenged the denial of
permission for drilling a borewell adjoining a natural spring near his farm.
The High Court, has said that permission is necessary for any person who wants to drill a borewell at a distance of 500 meters from a natural spring.
