They staged a dharna in front of the taluk panchayat chief executive officer’s office here on Friday protesting against violation of norms while implementing the scheme which aimed at providing a minimum of 100-day employment for the rural youth.
Machines, instead of manpower, have been used during works taken up under the scheme across the taluk, throwing to wind the conditions stipulated for implementation of the scheme. The activists said they would take out an intense agitation if it is not set right immediately.
DSS taluk unit convenor Keeluholali Satish, Dalit Vimochane Human Rights Forum convenor Shivashankar, Hosakere Raghu and Jagadish led the protest.
