Sr Giocomina Lobo

Born to Casmir Lobo and Angeline Fernandes on May 8, 1928 at Belle in Udupi district, the seed of religious vocation sprout in her soul when she was teaching in Don Bosco Higher Elementary School at Shirva after completing her TCH and she joined the Sisters of Charity on March 25, 1950.

In her long stint as a teacher, she taught in several schools in Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod districts that include Holy Family Convent (Kumbla) and Holy Angels Convent in Mangalore. Greatly influenced by Rev Fr Hilary Gonsalves, the then parish priest of Shirva, also known as tiger of Shirva, Sr Giocomina was engaged in household duties in novitiate community after retirement in 1973. The ever smiling Sr Giocomina always tried to scatter a ray of serenity in the community, said Sr Emma Joseph, the superior of Infant Marys convent, where the nun spent last years of her life. Her funeral will be held at Infant Marys Convent in Jeppu on December 26 at 10 am.
