Officials told to initiate measures against H1N1

Taluk Panchayat President Jayanna directed the health officials to initiate precautionary measures to prevent the spread of H1N1, dengue and other communicable diseases.

Presiding over the taluk panchayat general meeting on Monday, he said that there is an information on the outbreak of H1N1 in the district. Preventive measures should be taken immediately, he directed.

Taluk Health Officer Dr Seema said 11 H1N1 cases in the taluk and 23 H1N1 cases in the district have been confirmed. One person affected by the disease has died in Kempanahalli. All possible precautionary measures have been taken. There is enough stock of medicines in PHCs.

Agriculture Officer Venkatesh Chowhan said that among the 2,302 farmers enrolled for the rabi season, 1,670 were eligible to receive the insurance amount under Phasal Bima scheme for the year 2016-17.

An insurance amount of Rs 28.31 lakh has been paid to 290 farmers. The insurance company has not released the amount to be paid for the rest of the farmers so far.

A total of 951 farmers had enrolled during the monsoon season for the year 2017-18. Out of these, 160 farmers have been paid with an insurance amount of Rs 6.21 lakh. About 10 farmers have enrolled during the rabi season.

Officer of the Horticulture Department, Poojitha, said that a grant of Rs 9.04 crore has been released towards coconut rejuvenation action plan. As many as 2,800 applications have been submitted for availing benefits under the special package meant for potato crop. As many as 1,375 beneficiaries have been provided with Rs 1,200 per hectare potato crop.

The taluk panchayat president directed the officials to ensure that the facilities reach the real beneficiaries.
