'One-man panel to probe into appointment irregularities'

Speaking with mediapersons here on Friday, the minister said various irregularities have been reported in the appointments to the vacant posts in the Medical Colleges of Mandya, Hassan and Shimoga. Fake documents were produced, fake records were submitted and also irregularities have been reported even in the promotions of the employees. After the inquiry, criminal cases will be booked against those involved in the scandal. An circular will will be issued on the formation of the committee in a week’s time,  he said.

Ramdas said for the first time a total of 500 postgraduate seats had been sanctioned in the State, 140 of them in Government Medical Colleges. The recruitment of additional staff required to manage the additional seats will held on May 1. The appointments will be made in a transparent manner. By month-end, the recruitment process will be completed, he said.

The expenses involved in the recruitment process will be borne both by the State and the Union Government on a 25:75 ratio, respectively. As far as admissions to the medical courses in A J Shetty and Navodaya Colleges was concerned, Ramdas said the students will be given an opportunity to continue according to the agreement with the State government. “The government knows how to get its legitimate share of seats,” he warned.
