Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is likely to expand his Cabinet soon to induct one member from the Legislative Council.

Siddaramaiah, who met the party top brass here on Wednesday, reportedly got the approval to induct one member form the Upper House, sources told Deccan Herald.

As per the rules, only a minister representing the Legislative Council should be the ruling party floor leader in the Upper House. With no member from the Council finding a place in the council of ministers constituted last week, the party decided to induct one member from the House to end the procedural imbroglio.

Though senior leader S R Patil’s name was doing the rounds, other senior members of the Upper House, Motamma and Veeranna Mattikatti, are also lobbying hard for the post.

Both Motamma and Mattikatti met Congress president Sonia Gandhi here and requested her to induct some of the members from the Upper House in the Cabinet.

Senior leader D K Shivakumar, who was denied a ministerial berth, met Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi here. What transpired in the meeting is not known. However, sources said Rahul reportedly asked Shivakumar to wait for a few months and promised to do justice to him.
