Out-of-syllabus questions baffle Urdu students

The Kuvempu University put off Urdu examination for first year BCom and second year BA students on Tuesday, following complaints that the paper contained questions out of the syllabus.

Students of second year BCom who appeared for Urdu examination in the morning session on Tuesday, were in for a rude shock when they saw that the question papers handed out to them had questions out of the syllabus.

The students brought the issue to the notice of invigilators. They were later informed that the examination had been put off following lapses in the question paper.

Even second year BA students who appeared for the examination, in the afternoon, received question papers containing out-of-syllabus questions.

S A Javeed, Registrar (Evaluation), Kuvempu University, speaking to Deccan Herald, said: “I have written to Mushraff Pasha, the Chairperson of Board of Examiners, Urdu Department seeking an explanation for lapses in the question papers.”

Also, the department has been directed to prepare a new question papers in tune with the syllabus within two days, said Javeed. The new dates of Urdu examination will be announced shortly, he added.
