Bagepalli, a backward town situated in border area, didn’t have a park till a few leaders, including V R Sudarshan, B K Hariprasad, took initiative and collected donations from public, MP’s fund to construct a park at the sprawling 10 acres of land adjacent to the temple in 2005.

Former legislator G V Sriramareddy launched the work on the park. Later, the park site was fenced; borewells and pipelines were laid and a musical fountain also was constructed.
However, what could have been an attractive spot has turned out to be a shelter for immoral activities such as gambling. The wires used for fencing have been stolen and the musical fountain is covered with shrubs.
The authorities concerned are yet to construct footpath, supply water to the fountain and complete electrification work.
Maintenance issues
Maintaining the park is of significance considering that the town has been witnessing unprecedented development.
With National Highway-7 in the west and international airport just 60 km away the town is growing to be an industrial hub.
Hence, there is an urgent need to maintain the park as lung space.
The residents, especially senior citizens, here are already feeling the suffocation due to crowd and congestion of the fast-developing town.
The Deputy Commissioner and the elected representatives need to immediately pay attention to the maintenance of the park.
