On the way to the historic Kamal Mahal, the tourists can stop at the Archaeology Department and treat themselves to some of the rare black and white and colour photographs, which have captured Hampi in all its grandeur.
The exhibition was officially inaugurated by Director of State Archaeology Department Dr R Gopal on Thursday. It will be open for the tourists throughout the year. The photographs of the famous stone chariot clicked by Alexander J Greenlaw from London in 1856, by another foreigner John Gulings in 1983 and Dr Gopal’s collection of colour photographs of Hampi are all on the display. The photographs of the Veerupaksha temple clicked in 1856, 1983 and 2008 provide comparative insight.
