Urging to fulfil their various demands including dropping the daily revision of fuel prices, Petrol Distributors’ Association shut all the fuel stations in the district and staged protest near deputy commissioner’s office on Wednesday.

All the 128 fuel stations in the city remained closed for the whole day, affecting vehicle users. Long queues were seen in front of the fuel stations, in the hope of getting fuel.

However, fuel was dispensed only for police vehicles and ambulances.

The distributors and employees of petrol bunks led by association president H Manjappa staged protest near Hemavathy circle and took out a protest march up to deputy commissioner’s office. They raised slogans against the Central government.

The protesters explained that the distributor should change the rate chart every day at 6 am.

They claimed that the new policy has affected the distributors.They have suffered a loss of Rs one lakh to Rs three lakh after this system came into force. The loss faced by them has to be borne by the government and government-owned oil companies, they claimed.

The other demands put forth by them were implementation of Justice Apoorva Chandra Committee report, increase margin of the distributors, and others. Association vice president B Pradeep Kumar, secretary B S Bhaskar and others were present.
