About 200 candidates from Kannada medium were bemused when they were given question papers in English. A total of 300 students had appeared for the examination.

Aspirants from outstations entered into an argument with invigilators and demanded question papers in Kannada.

A candidate told reporters that candidates had come from Mandya, Bangalore, Madikeri, Hassan and other places. “Though a majority of the candidates were from Kannada medium, the question papers for history and sociology were in English. The hall ticket issued to the candidates had no mention of date, time and venue of the examination. We all attended the exam on the basis of the announcement on the website,” he said. The candidates boycotted the exam and raised slogans against the university.

The protesters created a ruckus outside Maharani Science College demanding cancellation of the examination. The varsity authorities announced that the entrance examination for history and sociology had been cancelled and the new date would be announced later.
