The High Court, on Wednesday, asked the petitioner to clarify if there was a law that prevents the government from using public money for state celebrations like the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Vidhana Soudha.

A divisional bench of acting Chief Justice H G Ramesh and Justice P S Dinesh was hearing a case filed by the petitioner, seeking to prevent the state government from spending Rs 10 crore for the celebration, which can be used for public welfare. The bench adjourned the case to Thursday.

HDK seeks change in bail conditions

Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy has moved the High Court, seeking modification of the bail conditions, owing to his poor health condition.

The High Court on Wednesday directed him to appear before the investigative agency every alternate Monday.

Justice R B Budihal, who was hearing the petition, directed him to appear before Justice Rathnakala, who granted him bail through video-conferencing. He gave directions to the registrar to arrange the video-conferencing.


Lad can travel to China

The High Court has allowed Congress MLA and businessman Anil Lad to travel to China between October 25 and November 4 for the purpose of business.

Justice Budihal directed the petitioner to appear before the CBI special court on November 7. The petitioner is accused of being involved in iron ore mining in Ballari between 2008 and 11.
