Inspector General of Police (Southern Range) Vipul Kumar inaugurated the Police-Kalpavruksha stalls set up by the district police on the premises of the District Armed Reserve (DAR) Grounds in Jyothinagar on Friday.

Police-Kalpavruksha consists of a police canteen, fruits stall, bakery, medical shop, provision store and a purified drinking water unit. The initiative is to offer quality products to police personnel and their family members at a reasonable cost.

More than 3,000 police personnel and their family members reside in the 1,553 quarters at Jalpuri and Jyothinagar in the city. The newly inaugurated shops will help them buy necessary products.

Police-Kalpavruksha was established under the guidance of the IGP for the welfare of police personnel. City Police Commissioner A S Rao, Deputy Commissioners of Police H T Shekar and N Rudramuni, Superintendent of Police Ravi D Chennannavar and others were also present.
