The policy, being prepared by the Department of Planning, will be placed before the Cabinet for approval at the earliest, said Union Labour and Employment Minister M Mallikarjun Kharge here on Sunday.
He said the Centre plans to extend the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana to workers in mines like slate and mica, beedi workers, autorickshaw and taxi drivers, ragpickers, domestic workers and rickshaw pullers, in a phased manner.
The scheme offers cashless health insurance cover of Rs 30,000 to a BPL family of five.
