Members of the Karnataka Food and Civil Supply Corporation Loading and Unloading Labourers’ Union met in the City on Sunday.
The members demanded better working conditions from the government.
“I have been working as a loader in government godowns since 1973 but till today I not have got any assurances on PF (provident fund) or ESI (Employment Status Insurance),” said Basha, a member of the Union.
Minister’s assurance
He further said that Dinesh Gundu Rao, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, who attended the meeting, had assured the members that he would take up the matter with the chief minister either before or after Deepavali.
As many as 2,000 members working in government godowns throughout the State are members of the Union.
