Pourakarmika loses toe on duty

 A pourakarmika accidentally lost his toe while stopping a machine used to clean the manhole, in Udayagiri limits, on Monday. The civic worker was treated at CSI Holdsworth Memorial Hospital, and was later discharged.

Pourakarmika Sangha, President N Mara speaking to Deccan Herald said that 32-year-old Kumara, resident of Jyothinagar along with other five pourakarmikas was clearing a manhole block at Udayagiri ward No 51. He said after ejecting the wire through the machine inside the manhole, it is removed. During the process, Kumara who was in a hurry to stop the running machine, accidentally supported his leg against the moving wheel and lost his toe.

He was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital and treated. Mara said that MCC officials and contractor Asgar Hussain had promised to bear all the medical expenses including compensation to Kumara.
