BJP MP Pratap Simha and over 200 others were arrested by the police on Sunday for defying prohibitory orders clamped in Hunsur town.

When the BJP workers turned violent, police lathi charged them to disperse the crowd.  The protesters stoned SP Ravi D Channanavar's car and damaged three KSRTC buses.

Police had banned processions in view of the Eid Milad celebration in the city and Hanuman Jayanti falling on the same day.

The prohibitory orders under section 144 of the IPC are in force from Saturday as a precautionary measure. The Hanuman Jayanti procession was taken out without police permission.
