Programme to raise awareness on food processing

Identifying Mysore as an ideal location to establish food based industries, an awareness programme regarding food processing has been organised here on August 31.

The programme, ‘Opportunities, Incentives and Concessions available to establish and expand Food Processing Industries,’ is being organised by National Mission of Food Processing (NMFP), District Agriculture and Horticulture departments, District Industries Centre, Mysore Industries Association and Mysore District Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Association (MDMSMEA).

Subject experts from institutes such as Central Food and Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Defence Food Research Laboratories (DFRL) and officials from Industries, Agriculture and Horticulture departments will deliberate on available technology for food processing industries and guidelines of NMFP.

According to a press release by Suresh Kumar Jain, general secretary of MDMSMEA, experts from CFTRI and DFRL will delve on modern techniques of processing milk, fruits, pulses and other food products. Officials of Departments concerned will talk on the availability of infrastructure and land for Food processing start-ups in the region.
