Prosthetic limbs worth Rs 8.29 lakh were distributed to seven beneficiaries under the MPLAD funds at a programme organised at Zilla Panchayat on Saturday.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel distributed the artificial limbs developed by Endolite India Ltd, to Roopesh, Chikkamudnur, Puttur; Ganesh M, Nekkiladi, Puttur; Seetarama, Murulya village, Sullia; Narayana Shetty, Bajjodi, Kulshekhar; Rakshita, Koila, Bantwal; Radhakrishna A, Ramakunja, Puttur; and Anand Poojary, Tokuru, Jokatte.

Speaking on the occasion, Endolite India regional manager J Immanuel said that the prosthetic limbs were developed with the latest technology, which makes them lightweight and more durable. The limbs are made of carbon fibre and are durable for eight years. Users can move with more ease, along with climbing steps.

The special prosthetic hand given to Radhakrishna A, Puttur is based on the concept of bio-hand, facilitated with an electronic chip which observes the stimulation of his arm nerves and makes it possible to freely move the fingers of the artificial hand.
