The pre-university lecturers' and principals' associations on Wednesday called off the boycott of evaluation of second PU answer papers following a six-hour discussion with Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait.

The associations had called for a boycott of the evaluation saying their demands on pay disparity had not been addressed.

Srikanthegowda, president of the principals' association said, "There was no separate pay scale for principals. The minister has promised in writing that there will be a separate pay scale. Until then, principals will also be eligible for ex gratia, which we were not receiving earlier."

Apart from this, the minister also agreed to give an increment to lecturers, principals, and high school teachers, which was promised earlier but not implemented. "The chief minister has also agreed to fulfil this demand. In two-three days, the increment will be released," Srikanthegowda said.

The PU department had asked supervisors for evaluation to report for duty on March 22, deputy chief evaluators to report on March 24 and assistant evaluators by March 26.
