The resignation of B J Puttaswamy as political secretary to the chief minister was finally accepted by Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda on Saturday.

Puttaswamy, an appointee of former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, had filed his nominations for the Rajya Sabha elections after tendering his resignation to the post of political secretary to the chief minister. However, his nomination papers were rejected by the returning officer, as he held an office of profit (political secretary to CM) and there was no clarity on whether the government had accepted his resignation. Gowda chose to accept his resignation on Saturday indirectly scoring a political point against his predecessor.
