The representatives of the managements in the State met the Principal Secretary to express their concerns, on Tuesday. According to the managements, clauses such as introduction of common curriculum would neutralise the quality of education.
"Common curriculum will have a negative impact on the quality of education. The syllabi followed in various parts of the country differ a lot from each other. Parents and students are not aware about the various aspects of the Act. We are planning to launch a new website to create awareness among them," said Mahesh Manghnani, President of Managements Association of Schools.
Karnataka Department of State Educational Research and Training (DSERT) has been designated as the academic authority for all schools. However, CBSE and ICSE schools already have other managements.
Local authorities who are responsible for implementing the Act like School Development and Monitoring Committee which implements the provisions of the Act is also different for different schools, say managements.
The State government had drafted the rules based on RTE Act of the Centre, recently. Karnataka Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Rules 2010 has been drafted after consulting teachers, NGOs, education experts and retired officers.
"The committee set up to frame rules should include educationist, teachers, principals and parents and the bill should be discussed by them" said M Srinivasan, Principal of the Management of Independent CBSE Schools Association.
