Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi’s less than three-minute-long visit to the residence of Dr Rajkumar to offer his condolences over the death of the late actor’s wife Parvathamma Rajkumar angered the thespians’ fans.
During his visit, Rahul termed Parvathamma a great woman, took a group photo with her children and advised her elder son Raghavendra Rajkumar to continue physiotherapy to overcome the effects of a stroke he had suffered sometime ago and left the place.

The visit concluded even before Bengaluru Development Minister K J George and KPCC Working President S R Patil, who had accompanied Rahul, could enter Dr Rajkumar’s house.

George and Patil had to return halfway to hurriedly get into their vehicles.

A large number of fans of Dr Rajkumar’s family, who had gathered near the actor’s Sadashivanagar residence, termed Rahul’s visit a farce. They questioned the very purpose of his visit to the residence and called it a “political gimmick”.

Later, speaking to reporters, Raghavendra Rajkumar said that it was a courtesy call and Rahul wanted to console the members of the family. The Congress leader garlanded a portrait of Parvathamma. There was no discussion on any political issues, he said.
