Madikeri and Kushalnagar received good rains and the drainages were overflowing. Other parts of the district also reported rain. The temperature came down giving a welcome relief from summer heat. Thunder and lighting was also witnessed.

At Virajpet, rains started late in the afternoon and in Somavarpet it started late in the evening. In Gonikoppal and Ponnampet though dark clouds were hovering from afternoon, it started raining only late in the evening. Kushalnagar saw a good show of incessant rain, along with lightning and thunder since afternoon till 4.15 pm.

As the region received sudden rainfall, people were seen taking shelters in bus stand, shops and other places.

As water entered the KSRTC bus stand in Kushalnagar, commuters found it difficult to get in and out of the buses. Some were seen removing water from the buses.  For a good hour all trade activities came to a stand still. Some drainages were clogged, causing the roads to be flooded.

Several villages in Suntikoppa hobli also reported good rains, bringing smiles on the farmers’ faces.
