Heavy rain accompanied by gusty wind lashed Hubballi-Dharwad for around one hour on Saturday, hampering the polling.

After clouds started gathering in the afternoon, the rain began at around 3.45 pm, with strong wind and thunderstorm, bringing down the mercury level.

It also affected the turnout at the polling stations in the twin cities towards the evening as many voters stayed indoors due to the rain.
