Electricity and cable wires were found to be cut across the city. The rains also led to water-logging in a few areas.

Poles, trees crash

Electricity poles and trees were uprooted in Periyapatna following a huge downpour on Sunday night. Strong breeze accompanied with rains leading to fear among the people.

Two trees were uprooted near Employees Layout, while another fell next to a house in front of Urdu School. Two electric poles hit the ground, causing Cesc to turn off electricity as a precautionary measure.

No loss of life has been reported as yet. Due to the lack of proper drainage system, a few houses were inundated. In several places several plants including plantains were damaged. It has been reported that 26.4 mm rainfall was measured on Sunday alone. This is the second largest rainfall, compared to 32.4 mm measured in April 22.
