Around 250 houses suffered partial damage following heavy rain in Yadgir and Shahpur taluks of the district on Saturday night.

While Shahpur recorded 501 mm, the rainfall recorded in Yadgir taluk was 458.5 mm. The Vadagera-Yadgir road has been damaged, bringing traffic to a halt.

Bheemaiah was injured when a wall of his house collapsed at Jalalnagar Layout of Raichur on Sunday morning. Padma, another resident of the locality, also suffered injuries when a wall of her house gave way.

While two houses collapsed in Raichur city, seven came down in Kavithala of Manvi taluk.

Many houses were flooded in several localities of Raichur and in nearby villages. Residents held a roadblock protest after water from a overflowing pond flooded Heggasanahalli village.

A portion of the dilapidated building of the district hospital in Raichur collapsed due to heavy rain. Patients in the ward near the damaged portion were shifted to other wards.

In Davangere

The city received heavy rainfall for a hour and a half on Sunday evening, throwing normal life out of gear. Several houses were flooded and drains overflowed in the city.

The rainfall between 5 pm and 5.30 pm was 52.5 mm, the highest for a half an hour duration in the last four years.
