Rainfall receded in several parts of the state on Thursday. The coastal region of Uttara Kannada district received light drizzle towards afternoon on Thursday.
Skies were overcast in Bhatkal, Honnavar, Kumta, Ankola and Karwar. Sirsi, Siddapur, Haliyal, Mundgod, Yellapur and Joida received moderate showers. Rainfall drastically receded in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Chikkamagalur districts on Thursday.
Rains receded in Shivamogga district too. Moderate rains lashed Hosanagar, Thirthahalli, Bhadravathi and Shivamogga. Sagar, Shikaripur and some parts of Sorab are under a dry spell. The water level in River Tunga in Shivamogga city dipped. However, the water level in Linganamakki dam in Sagar taluk rose to 1760.50 feet against the maximum level of 1,819 feet as the catchment area received good rain.
While Mysuru city experienced light showers for a few minutes on Thursday, the Cauvery catchment area received good rain, increasing the inflow into KRS reservoir. The inflow on Thursday was 22,935 cusec and the water level in the dam increased by seven feet in a day.
The inflow, which was 7,126 cusec on June 29, increased to 22,000 cusec on June 30. Similarly, the water level, which was 69.65 ft on June 20, stood at 76.37 ft on June 30.
Intermittent rains in Hassan district took a break on Thursday. There were light showers in the morning and evening. The water level in Hemavathy dam on June 30 was 2,870 ft against its maximum of 2,922 ft. Inflow was 13,265 cusecs and outflow was 135 cusecs.
The water level at Kabini reservoir was 2,258 as against the maximum of 2,284 ft.
