According to reports from Mangalore, Madikeri, Shimoga and Chitradurga, water levels in major rivers like Netravathi, Kumaradhara in Dakshina Kannada and the River Cauvery in Kodagu have seen a rise as the inflow from catchment areas has been good.
Heavy rains lashed Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. People in low-lying areas of Mangalore had a tough time as the rainwater had entered their houses due to lack of stormwater drains. Water entered houses in Acharya colony, Bellare, Janata colony in Surathkal.
The water level in the River Nethravathi has increased to four metres in Bantwal and 19 metres in Uppinangady. The water level of the River Kumaradhara was 19 metres.
The roof of the Government Higher Primary School in Sheeribeedi in Udupi district collapsed due to gusty wind.
In the last 24 hours, the district registered 60.93 mm rainfall and Udupi received the highest rainfaill - 95.8 mm.
Water level in major reservoir has increased in Shimoga district. Water level in Linganamakki reservoir reached 1,758.75 ft on Monday with 9,707 cusec inflow. Bhadra reservoir had 152.1 ft water as against the maximum level of 186 ft. Agumbe received 47.6 mm rain and Tirthahalli recorded 14.2 mm rain.
Kodagu experienced incessant rain till late afternoon and Triveni Sangama in Bhagamandala was in full flow. Water level in the River Cauvery recorded increase by two ft. The district recorded 23.27 mm rainfall and in Harangi reservoir water level was at 2,821 ft with an inflow of 994 cusec.
